Description

The Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) Office of Research and Innovation (OR&I), in collaboration with FLEETWERX, Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability, the Naval Postgraduate School Foundation, Techlink, and California State University Monterey Bay are conducting an exclusive in-person reverse pitch event at the Hopkins Marine Station at 1800 on Tuesday, September 22nd.

Industry, investors, and technologists are invited to receive briefings on five technologies invented by researchers at NPS, followed by an after-event mixer.

Space is limited, so register today!

3D printed microfluidic muscles: Discover a monolithic, 3D-printable artificial muscle that leverages microfluidic capacitors to generate massive, biomimetic force without the bulk of traditional motors. Capable of lifting heavy loads while remaining acoustically stealthy, this technology offers vastly superior force density and mechanical durability. It presents a highly lucrative entry point into the multi-billion-dollar robotics, exoskeleton, and autonomous vehicle markets.

Accelerated AI Optimization: This breakthrough optimization technology borrows from missile trajectory calculations to accelerate AI model training by up to 70%,drastically reducing computational time and energy costs. By providing a light-weight software framework rather than relying on expensive hardware upgrades, it enables rapid deployment across machine learning environments. This represents a massive cost-saving opportunity within the booming $34 billion deep learning market.

Spatial Temporal Photogrammetry: Revolutionizing unmanned aerial and surface vehicle imaging, this system mathematically stabilizes optical measurements by up to70% without the need for heavy gimbals or ground references. It effectively rectifies imagery even over featureless surfaces like the open ocean, resulting in significant weight, time, and cost savings for autonomous fleets. This modular sensor software targets the rapidly expanding $4.1 billion geospatial software and commercial UAV sectors.

Water Detection Submersion Switch: This patented, omni-directional submersion switch replaces bulky, unreliable marine safety sensors with a compact, highly buoyant geometric cage design. It instantly triggers life-saving flotation or beacon deployments upon submersion, making it ideal for tactical body armor and smart commercial marine IoT devices. The technology captures a highly profitable, immediate entry point within the $10.2 billion global marine safety equipment market.

Reduced File Transfer: Overcoming the high costs and vulnerabilities of persistent satellite communications, this ultra-low-power protocol shifts remote data transfer from centralized servers to resilient, peer-to-peer synchronization. It drastically extends battery life and reduces expensive SATCOM bandwidth for autonomous drone swarms, offshore wind farms, and defense networks. This capability targets immediate, high-margin capture within the $483 billion Industrial IoT and autonomous fleet markets.

And more technologies from NPS, Stanford Doerr Hopkins Marine Station, and others!
