FLEETWERX and Naval Postgraduate School conduct an assessment event for rapid prototyping of a modular payload for an unmanned platform

Description

Conduct a proof-of-concept integration of a specialized RF payload on a Platform Aerospace Vanilla Aircraft.

Objective

The goal of the effort is to complete a rapid prototyping effort todeliver:

1. Deliver a set of pods that are:

a. 6-8” in diameter

b. 20-30” in length

c. Under 50lbs in weight with payload integrated (estimated payload massto be provided)

d. Internal space and structure to mount several 10cm X 10cm X 10cm cubesfor payload

e. Capable of being mounted and interfaced (power and data) on a Vanilla Aircraft system

FLEETWERX (FWX), in collaboration with Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) will conduct an Assessment Event (AE) to find Advanced Manufacturing solutions that will provide point-of-need solutions and reduce the reliance on traditional reach-back logistics.

Sand Core Tooling

This project seeks to develop the necessary tech data to additively manufacture select sand cores. The AM process is expected to drastically decrease the number of defects caused by the tooling process.

Maturation of Magnesium Solidification Modeling Software Assessment Event

FLEETWERX, in collaboration with NPS and OUSD A&S ICAM Office, is conducting an Assessment Event to find solutions that improve magnesium casting simulation software by conducting a Design of Experiments (DOE) to enhance the prediction and prevention of segregation defects in magnesium gearbox sand castings for multiple DoD programs.
